Alberta Education has provided a grant to Khan Communication Services to assist Home Education Families with support service normally provided to students in school.  The goal is to partner with parents and provide more specialized support and resources that schools and facilitators are not able to provide.  To be clear – this is only for students who are 100% Home Education (not Shared or Online).

Some details from Khan:

  • Family and student concerns addressed include speech, OT, mental health, behavioural concerns, communication, social skills, learning, etc.  You can ask about specific assessments such as Psych Ed, but the consultant will determine if this is the direction needed.
  • Services must start with an Initial Consultation (screening), at which time the consultant will determine next steps which can include meeting with a specialized professional or if an inperson assessment is needed.  On the website, you can select a time for the Initial Consultation that works for you.  The attachment provides a step by step guide for accessing services and the Initial Consultation.
  •  Workshops, resources, and other content is available through YouTube and Khan Communication Services social media accounts.

Families can complete a Home Education Registration Form (to access the services) at Home Education - Khan Communication Services Inc.   or reach out to them directly at: homeed@khancommunicationservices.com
